New features incoming – announcing the People HR Spring Release (part two)

In March this year, our development team released our first set of new features for Spring 2017. Since then, they’ve been working hard on another set of new features and system upgrades – which you’ll see hitting your system on 19th May 2017.
While you wait, here’s a preview of some of the new functionality we’re introducing.
Half-day holiday locking
Locking specific dates against holiday requests is a very helpful tool for businesses that wish to plan for key events or busy days in their company calendar. But sometimes, you don’t need to lock the whole day – in fact, it may just be that you only need all hands on deck in the morning or the afternoon of a specific date.
The new release will let you lock either or morning or an afternoon against holiday requests, allowing employees to request holidays as usual for the remainder of that date.
We’re improving the way you can manage tasks from within People. This includes new filters, new notifications, and new bulk actions.
Plus, you’ll also be able to give regular users access to the task area, which will help you reduce the burden on the system administrator.
Customise more security settings
We have always put information security at the front of everything we do, and we want to help you do the same.
The new release will let you define stronger password requirements – meaning your users will need to create stronger passwords, keeping their accounts safer. You’ll also be able to set how long passwords last for before they need to be changed, and customise the session timeout length – users who are inactive for this length of time will need to log in again.
Calculate pro-rata holidays by the hour
If your employees accrue holidays based on hours worked, you’ll now be able to tell the system to calculate their pro-rata holiday entitlement automatically.
Build custom accrual rules
We’re giving you loads more flexibility with how your employees accrue holidays. By building your own sets of custom rules, you’ll be able to assign different accrual rules for different groups of employees. For example, you may have one department that awards an extra day’s holiday for each year worked – whereas another department may approach holiday accrual differently.
There’s more to come – watch out for our video
There’s plenty more to come, and we’ll be creating more detailed release notes for you once the release goes live.
We’ll also be putting a short video together in the next few days, to take you through the new features, and introduce you to what’s changing.
