Regularly appearing in the Sunday Times Best Companies to Work For list, recruitment consultancy Austin Fraser is a company clearly passionate about people. During a period of rapid growth, their HR Officer, Laura Johnstone, decided to join People HR to help her manage her growing workforce. She loves being able to provide her employees with visibility of their own records, from anywhere in the world, on any device.

 

Ever since their launch in 2007, specialist technical recruitment consultancy Austin Fraser has strongly believed that the one thing continuously setting them apart from their competition is their people.

Since the business was founded by two people in a garage, to more than 100 employees across three different countries, Austin Fraser’s attitude to internal recruitment has always been, ‘bring in great people and offer them all of the tools, support and training they need to become truly excellent market specialists’.

So when Austin Fraser found People™ from a simple web search and decided that it was the right software for their workforce, we took it as a huge compliment. Recently, we managed to speak with their HR Officer Laura Johnstone, to find out just how they were getting along.

 
 

Austin Fraser’s People™ Experience

Compared with their previous method of handling HR, Laura says People™ scores a huge 10/10, and the first thing she tells us is that the software has helped her understand her workforce better.

“By using the in-built reports and queries, or by designing our own, we can grab important information and statistics that help us internally,” she says “plus, thanks to the absence heat map and Bradford Factor Scoring, we can easily identify employees who might be taking more frequent absences, so that we can check in with them to make sure everything is OK or to see if there is anything we can do to help.”

It sounded like Laura was really enjoying the software – but what did the rest of the team think?

“Our favourite feature is self-service,” says Laura, “and our employees love the system. They enjoy the visibility they have over their own holidays, and being able to see which days their team mates are off helps them plan more effectively. The option to access the system across different mobile platforms is also fantastic – our employees can arrange well-deserved holidays really quickly, and our consultants’ valuable time is freed up to do just what they do best!”
