IT professionals often have a tough job to do, and a lot of the time, their colleagues and co-workers don’t really understand what exactly that job is. So it’s hardly surprising to learn that in the IT industry, stress is quite common. But what is perhaps surprising, is quite how bad that stress is.
Recent Survey Reveals Shocking IT Industry Stress Statistics
This month, I.T. solutions provider GFI Software™ released the results of their fourth annual independent IT Admin Stress Survey.
Possibly the most shocking statistic it revealed, was that a massive 82 percent of respondents said they were actively considering quitting their IT job because of stress at work – a statistic that has increased by more than 15% since 2014.
As well as this, the survey results suggested that, out of all IT staff in the United States:
– 78% consider their job stressful
– 45% have missed social events because of tight deadlines and heavy demands at work
– 40% miss out on family time because of work spilling over into their free time
– 38% are not getting enough sleep because of work pressure
– 27% are suffering stress-related illnesses
Every single one of these figures has increased since GFI Software™’s survey from the previous year, and each one of them is a pretty serious cause for concern.
